FLV files ................

Typically, when you view a “You Tube” file this is what happens………..

The file actually downloads to your Temporary Internet Folder.  However, you may not be aware that there are many Temporary Internet Folders and of course you need to know which one is YOUR Temporary Internet Folder.

The Temporary Internet Folder used to receive the downloaded file is the one that is located under your log in name. Here is the usual path……..    c:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR LOG IN NAME]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Folder\

Not everyone can see this folder because of the way they have settings set in Windows Explorer.  In order to see the folder you must set your settings in Windows Explorer this way.  Open Windows Explorer, Go to TOOLS,  FOLDER OPTIONS,  Select VIEW, Scroll down to HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS and place the radio button at SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS.  Click the APPLY button and then click the APPLY TO ALL FOLDERS button before you click the OK button to close this window.  Now CLOSE and RE- OPEN Windows Explorer and scroll to……..  c:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR LOG IN NAME]\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Folder\

Further, you may also be unaware that most of the time, FLV type files only hang around about 15 minutes after you have viewed such a file via your seeing it inside Internet Explorer during a Browse session.  Therefore, you MUST very quickly after having viewed such a file, go to the Temporary Internet Folder, find the file (usually one of the largest files in size with a CURRENT time and date stamp), copy the file and paste it into another file folder.  You might consider making a folder called “FLVfiles” and locate it at c:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR LOG IN NAME]\MyDocuments\FLVfiles\

Try it and see how well this works.

Oh and if you missed an earlier Email, you can get an FLV viewer program at www.Download.com and do a search for FLV player.

I happen to like FLV Player 2.0.24.  Here is the direct URL to download….

 http://www.download.com/FLV-Player/3000-2139_4-10814415.html?tag=lst-1

Make sure that once downloaded to your machine, that you run the executable to install the program.  Be sure to associate all FLV files with this program.  To associate, do the following…..  Open Windows Explorer, go to TOOLS, FOLDER OPTIONS, FILE TYPES,  scroll down to FLV, select it and if the association is NOT with the FLVPLAYER, click the CHANGE button and select it from the list of browse to …..

C:\Program Files\FLVPlayer\FLVPlayer.exe  and as they say in the movies…..  “That’s All Folks”.

One more note…………..

Remember the Links I sent to you about the Gas to Water stuff?  The links to the 2 books?  The links have been moved and no longer out in the open.   This is why I recommend always downloading the materials you deem important and especially if you pay for it.  Once they are gone, they’re GONE.   (I downloaded them and many more files of varied importance to me.)
